Player Conduct
A plain-language guide to what agents can, cannot, should and should not do, based on the Niantic Terms of Service. It is a community summary, not legal text or an official Niantic document. If anything here differs from the official Terms, the official Terms win.
Can do
Allowed and welcome
- Play with your own accountOne person, one account, played by that person.
- Team up and make friendsPlay with friends, join local communities and chat groups, and coordinate in the open.
- Join community eventsAttend and organise First Saturday and Second Sunday events registered through the official event channels.
- Use official toolsThe Scanner, Comm, the official Intel map and official support are all fair game.
- Share knowledgeWrite guides, share screenshots of your own play and help newer agents learn the game.
- Submit real portal candidatesUse Operation Portal Recon (OPR) honestly, for places that actually qualify.
Cannot do
Against the Terms of Service - risks warnings, suspension or a permanent ban
- Spoof your locationFake GPS, location-changing apps or teleporting around the map.
- Run multiple accountsPlaying a second account yourself, or letting someone else play one for you, to gain an advantage.
- Share, sell or trade accountsHanding over your login, buying an account or selling one.
- Use bots, scripts or modified clientsAuto-hackers, auto-linkers and any tool that plays the game for you or alters the app.
- Exploit bugs on purposeDeliberately abusing a glitch for gain instead of reporting it.
- Harass or threaten othersHate speech, bullying, doxxing, threats or targeting a specific agent.
- Abuse OPRSubmitting fake, ineligible or unsafe locations, or colluding to rate submissions.
- Put yourself or others in dangerPlaying while driving, entering restricted or dangerous areas, or trespassing.
- Fake event resultsDoctoring or fabricating stats screenshots. This is a community rule rather than a Niantic one, but it gets you removed from events.
Should do
Good practice that keeps the community healthy
- Stay aware of your surroundingsWatch traffic and the people around you. Never play while driving; let a passenger play instead.
- Respect private property and local rulesObey Thai law, opening hours and posted signs, and leave when asked.
- Be kind in chatKeep conversations civil, whichever faction you play.
- Report suspected cheating through official channelsUse in-game reporting or Niantic support rather than confronting someone.
- Protect your accountKeep your sign-in secure and never give your credentials to anyone.
- RSVP honestlyRegister for events you intend to attend and cancel if your plans change.
- Welcome new agentsExplain the rules and the Terms of Service, so nobody gets banned by accident.
- Re-read the Terms now and thenNiantic can update them, so check the official page for the current wording.
Should not do
Not always a ban offence, but it harms others or invites trouble
- Accuse people without evidencePublic call-outs of cheating can be wrong and are themselves harassment.
- Share private detailsReal names, photos, home or workplace locations without consent.
- Try "just one" unofficial toolThird-party apps that touch the game are risky even when they look harmless. If in doubt, don't.
- No-show at eventsRegistering and not turning up wastes the organiser's time and the venue's goodwill.
- Play where it is disrespectful or restrictedReligious ceremonies, schools, military or government sites, hospitals and similar places.
- Be noisy or disruptiveLate-night recharging or crowding public spaces upsets neighbours and gives the game a bad name.
- Gate-keep or excludeTurning new or casual agents away from open community events.
